Special Announcement
Recently, Mrs. Walz our Assistant Principal has had to go on leave. In the period of her absence, I am pleased to welcome Ms. Dunwoody to take on the Acting Assistant Principal role. Her knowledge of the school culture, goals, and structures for student achievement and wellbeing will ensure a continuous approach to our programming during our budget decision making and into the next term. We also have the pleasure to welcoming Ms. Wishart back to North Haven. She worked as our Kindergarten teacher last year and will be working in Ms. Dunwoody’s grade ¾ class while Ms. Dunwoody takes on her new role. With these familiar faces taking on these roles we look forward to continued high quality teaching and learning at North Haven.
Her email is [email protected] if you would like to contact her for comments regarding room 11.
Welcome to Ms. Dunwoody Grade 3/4 Class!
I am passionate about learning being hands on, real world, authentic, and inquiry based but the most important thing is the happiness of my students! Welcome to our class!
Here are a few things to remember..
Agenda Folders: Please refer to your child’s clear agenda folder for important communication. Agenda folders will be checked daily at school and should be checked at home for assignments and notices each night. The agenda folders are the most effective method for corresponding with your child’s teachers. Please reinforce with your child that it is their responsibility to ensure that their folder arrives at school each morning and is brought home each afternoon.
Digital Citizenship: We have the three R's of North Haven which are respect yourself, respect others and respect this place. Please see the following link in regards to North Haven's digital citizenship.

Indoor Shoes: Please ensure that your child has indoor shoes that are suitable for the gym. Running shoes are ideal. Flip-flops or big boots are not acceptable for gym class for safety reasons. The indoor shoes are to be left at school overnight.
Water Bottles: We encourage all students to bring their own water bottle into the classroom each day. We would appreciate it if you could label the water bottle with your child’s name. Water bottles should be small in size and spill-proof for the protection of their belongings in their backpacks and their work on their desks. We will attempt to have their water bottles sent home every Friday so that they can be cleaned.
Home Reading: Home reading is encouraged on a nightly basis of approximately 20-30 minutes. Reading aloud to someone aids in the development of oral reading fluency.
Volunteering: We welcome and value our parent volunteers. If you are able to volunteer, we would greatly appreciate it. Please contact your classroom teacher if you are available weekly or for field trips. Police clearance forms can be collected through the office.
School Entry: Parents bringing their child to school are asked to say their goodbyes outside the designated doors. If for any reason, parents need to access the building, please sign in at the front office as per procedures. We encourage all grade 3/4 students to enter the school independently.
Please email me anytime at [email protected] or call me at 403-777-6220 if you have any questions of comments!
